My drive

As my great challenge I see bringing together the separate worlds of strategy development, ambitious program management and a line organization that gets all the changes ahead of them.



Straight at the goal or finding the right way

A development-orientated approach often works better than design-orientated approaches.
Our ability to bring the future alive is sometimes greatly overestimated.

A  learning organization leave granted apart assumptions more easy which are no longer correct. But I am certainly not in favor of abolishing all planning activities.
I just prefer another way of dealing with plans.

I worked many years as a program manager, portfolio manager and managing director.
I observed that underlying benefits or business goals and result-driven disappear from sight. The IT systems, product modifications, services and organizational changes sometimes became an end in itself.


My experiences

As a Chartered  Management Accountant, I have more than 25 years of experience in almost all conceivable issues around administration, management accounting, investment selection, business cases, cost price calculations, financial accounting, standardization and project controlling.


Some of the ambitious and tough change projects I have successfully implemented at NS (Dutch Railways):


  • Project Portfolio Management around the OV Chip Card (Oyster card) Program
  • Professionalizing Product & Channel Management
  • Manager of a large Lean Program NedTrain (Service & Maintenance of trains)
  • Establishing and outsourcing of HR Shared Service Center
  • Principal of very large SAP ERP implementation
  • 10 Years as CFO of the business unit: NS Real Estate
  • IPO of a large Real Estate Fund in 6 months
